The recent mass shooting in Maine has given the Socialist-Marxist Party (SMP), formerly the Democratic Party, another chance to ride one of their favorite hobbyhorses: gun confiscation from sane, responsible, law-abiding citizens.
In response to that tragic event, House Speaker, Mike Johnson, commented, “At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It’s not guns. It’s not the weapons,” and provided Second Amendment support.[1] This set Socialist-Marxist heads spinning like Fembots, and the usual spewing of incorrect, asinine, and mean invective. Johnson’s comments were “factually wrong,” they painted a “dark view of America and its people,” and “Gun violence in America is not inevitable, it is simply tolerated by Republican leadership.”[2]
Then in a letter to Johnson, this self-righteous, sanctimonious, shameless group wrote, “God’s children are being killed every day in our country in part because of the inaction of Republican leadership on gun violence prevention legislation. Families of every faith in America have empty chairs around the dinner table because Republicans have failed to answer our constituents’ prayers for action. We urge you to hear the prayers of the children terrified of being killed at school and the families praying for leaders to lead. [In the book of John, we read] ‘the good shepherd lays down his life’ for his flock.”[3]Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates stated, “Gun crime is uniquely high in the United States because congressional Republicans have spent decades choosing the gun industry’s lobbyists over the lives of innocent Americans. Gun violence is now the main reason that American children’s hearts stop beating. Not cancer, not car accidents — gun violence.”[4]
Predictably, these harsh, hyperbolic comments were followed by pleading with the Republicans to work in a bipartisan manner “to enact common sense laws that will save lives. We stand ready to work with you on any policies that will help end gun violence.”[5]
I am not sure whether this was a Bad Cop-Good Cop routine, or a lead taken from Hitler’s claims that Germans just needed Lebensraum (living space) when he annexed Austria and Czechoslovakia. But when the Socialist-Marxists (aka Democrats) in the House indict Republicans for the death of our babies, then invoke God and call for bipartisanship it makes my ass twitch.
The SMP says it wants background checks and Red flag (Extreme Risk Protection) laws which, at first glance, sound reasonable. However, we already have background checks and Red flag laws in over a dozen states. Indiana’s Red flag laws did not stop Brandon Hole, a nut job who admitted he wanted to commit suicide by cop, from killing eight people at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis in mid-April 2021. Why? Because lawyers did not enforce those laws to the fullest extent allowed and needed.[6]
Connecticut had the first Red flag law (1999). University of New Haven Professor
Michael Lawlor assisted in the law’s preparation but told CNN in late April 2021 that “red flag laws are one tool, but they don’t work without a comprehensive system of gun regulation.”[7] Lawlor continued, “In Indiana, they have the red flag law … but they don’t have the mechanism to make it difficult to get out and get more guns.” In Connecticut, people under 21 cannot buy firearms and assault rifles cannot be purchased. Lawlor maintained that both rules would have stopped Hole.[8]
With due respect to Professor Lawlor, his conclusions that the insane Hole could have been stopped by age restrictions or assault rifle bans are ludicrous, and Lawlor knows this. In mid-December 2012 in Newtown, CT, 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother with a .22 rifle then proceeded to Sandy Hook Elementary School where he killed 26, including 20 children, with an AR-15 style rifle.[9]
In November 2018, California’s Red flag laws were not implemented to stop Ian David Long from killing 12 and injuring over a dozen more at the Thousand Oaks Bar even though police officials knew from April 2018 that Long may have suffered from PTSD … and perhaps other psych illness.[10]
Other mass shootings, such as at a High School in Parkland Florida (February 2018), in an El Paso, Texas Walmart (August 2019), at an Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas (May 2022), at an Elementary School in Nashville (March 2023), were perpetrated by individuals with psychiatric pathology. People with psychiatric pathology (i.e. the insane) do not follow laws any more than criminals do because they are insane!
It appears that Lawlor, Congressional SMP members, and the Obama-Biden White House do not grasp this simple concept. But appearances can be deceiving, and the SMP is superb at projection and deception. As Lawlor advocated, a comprehensive system of gun regulation is needed. Indeed, it is. But what does that mean, how is it defined by the SMP and the Obama-Biden Marxist Regime?
In the November 2023 issue of America’s First Freedom,[11] Editor-in-Chief Frank Miniter answers that question. The Obama-Biden goal is to disarm Americans. Their plan to achieve this goal is as follows:
1. Confiscate semi-automatic weapons. Although Biden always points to “assault weapons,” semi-automatic weapons include many handguns.
2. End gun manufacturer immunity from liability. Another Biden lie. Those injured by defective guns or those sold illegally may sue the manufacturer. Does that mean that soon automakers will be liable for death and injury in automobile collisions?
3. Enact universal background checks.
4. Make it more difficult to become a federal firearm licensee (FFL).
5. Government home inspections to ensure guns are safely stored and demand gun owners buy liability insurance in case they defend themselves against a home intruder who will sue them for injuries sustained. Yep, you read that right.
6. Stop youth programs that teach gun safety and responsibility.
The SMP does not want common sense gun laws, nor does it want to work together with Republicans to create policies to end gun violence. If they did, the work could be accomplished in a couple of days. Their goal is to disarm the American population so that it poses no threat to Obama’s dream of a Marxist dictatorship. And he is in his third term as president right now.
